Sleepy Hollow, I love you so very much, but we need to talk.

I will happily suspend my disbelief about the fact that Ichabod seems to have known every single Founding Father and been involved in about 90% of the significant events of the Revolutionary War prior to his big sleep.  I don't usually mind the often overly convenient sources of exposition.  I love your ridiculous plot elements like Franklinstein's Monster.  (And thank you SO MUCH for actually making that pun.)  The workings of the Sleepy Hollow justice system don't seem to bear much resemblance to what happens in the real world, but few tv shows with cops do.  I see zero need to make an issue of it here.

But you have got to draw the line somewhere.  And that somewhere is biogeography.

The thing is, I wouldn't mind so much if we hadn't already had this talk once.  In the very first episode, you had an appearance by a Harris's Hawk, a species native to the southwestern US and Latin America, never anywhere near New York state.  At least that bird had the excuse of being a mystical omen.  This week in "Go Where I Send Thee" you had no such excuse.

Have you heard the extremely worrisome news circulating?  Warner Brothers announced plans to do a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot movie.  It's not even ten years after the series went off the air, which is frankly too soon for a "reboot" under the best of circumstances.  These are FAR from the best of circumstances, because Joss Whedon is not involvedHe is also not very happy.

First a happy thing and then a rant.  Summer's arrival has made the local farmers' markets really, really exciting.  Today I bought blackberries (1/3 eaten by the end of my walk home, staining my fingers purple), cherries, peaches, and tomatoes, and I still have salad greens, snap peas, pattypan squash, cucumber, and green beans left over from last week.  I've just finished off a couple of cherimoyas, this tropical fruit (locally grown because I live in California, bitches) that looks like a green armadillo and tastes like heaven. Before I started regularly patronizing farmers' markets, I never really believed that there could be that big a difference in the tastes of tomatoes from a supermarket and tomatoes grown locally in small batches, but the ones I get from the farmers are so much more flavorful.  I love fresh produce, and I love California.

Now for a rant.
Now, off to eat some of that lovely food.

I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Iron Man in a double-feature at the drive-in.  I couldn't manage to rally any friends to go, but being alone in my car allowed me to talk back to the screen to my heart's content so all was well.  Here's some thoughts.

In conclusion, next time I go to the drive-in I'm cleaning the really stubborn bug spatters off my windsheild first.  Also, there ought to be fanfic crossing over the Doctor with Indiana Jones for a different "Smith and Jones."  Perhaps it could include Martha, in which case it would be entitled "Smith and Jones and Jones."  Throw in Ianto and you get "Smith and Jones and Jones and Jones."
