tardis_stowawayMy attempts to create a cover letter for a summer job I want are going poorly. I checked my friendslist, and lo! ms_sardonicus provided a handy excuse to procrastinate in the form of a meme tag.
Official instructions: People who have been tagged post their answers and replace any question they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves. Tag 8 people. Those who are tagged cannot refuse (well, I'm saying you can refuse if you really don't want to do it). These 8 people must state who they were tagged by. You cannot tag the person who tagged you.
Much of my friendslist has already done this meme, and I don't feel like pressuring anybody who might have better things to do. Therefore I tag anybody who feels like filling it out.

Transfer it to my wallet. It will fall out of my pocket, and then I'll be sad. When it comes time to spend it, I'll probably lump it in with the general funds for necessities like books, coffee, and food.
2. What is your most guilty pleasure?
Roadtrips. I want to cut down on my carbon footprint, but I'm rather in love with the open road.
3.Have you ever seen someone die?
No, thankfully.
4.Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?
One word, just one word: plastics.
(I've seen The Graduate way too many times. That answer counts as an emphatic yes.)
5.What was the last movie you saw, for pleasure, and would you recommend it?
New: Atonement, and yes. A bit of a downer, but it was gorgeous and well acted.
Rewatch: the Keira Knightly version of Pride & Prejudice. I absolutely recommend it. It can't displace really long BBC version in my heart, but it's still well worth watching. The cinematography and costumes are beautiful, and I love Darcy's terrible proposal in the rain.
6. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing that now?
I wanted a lot of careers at various points in my childhood: paleontologist, astronaut, pilot, zookeeper. The profession I wanted for the longest time was writing. Now I write fanfic, but that's it.
7.If the person you like does not accept you, would you continue to wait for them to change their feelings?
I certainly wouldn't wait around. I am who I am, and I want anybody I'm with to accept that. However, if they changed their feelings and I wasn't yet with somebody else, I would probably gladly go with them.
8.If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
I'd write a whiney post under a tight friendslock over at my personal journal or maybe in my paper journal, then I'd attempt to get over them and build a simple friendship. Cheating or luring someone else into cheating is wrong, wrong, and more wrong. If possible, I'd try to get to know my crush's significant other, since knowing a person well takes the bitter edge off of jealousy.
9.Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?

Seeing some of my friends from last year made me miss them all the more. Also, the day my supervisor observed me turned out to be a lousy teaching day for me. The irritating kids kind of ran right over me, and my lesson was really discombobulated.
10.If you could have chosen at birth whether to be a boy or a girl, which would you be?
I'm not sure. I would LOVE to be able to pee standing up, and cramps are horrible. I'm no good at a lot of "girl things" like using makeup, reading people, walking in heels, or feeling nurturing towards babies. Then again, I've always been comfortable with my gender. I don't want testosterone interfering with my ability to think straight, and my tendency to cry when frustrated would be even more problematic if I were male. I suppose I'll just assume that nature dealt me an appropriate hand and stick with female.
11. If you go the opportunity to be famous, would you take it?
No. I love acclaim, but if I were publicly criticized it would hurt too much. I make enjoy being a famous author, where I didn't often get recognized out and about but would still have a bully pulpit from which to encourage my values.
12.Thunderstorms - cool or scary?
Totally frickin' awesome.
13. Other than seeking the Holy Grail, what is your quest?
To live according to my values and inspire others to do the same, to seize the day, and to laugh and make others laugh.
14. Would you rather be a really good person or a really interesting person?
I feel like if you're a really good person then you're also inherently interesting. Moderately good people are often very boring, but being really good means more than just being nice. It means defying society's norms and changing the world for the better. I choose good.
15. Do you believe in some form of life after death?
Yes. I don't claim to know exactly what it is (other than that I DON'T believe in hell), but I don't think souls cease to exist any more than matter and energy do.
16. Which fictional character could you most see yourself marrying?
Hiro from Heroes. Gotta love a sweet nerd boy with super powers.
17. Best sex: rough and fast or slow and tender?
At the moment any would be nice.
18. Do you have a motto? If yes which one?

19. If you could have one wish granted, what would it be? And no 'world peace'.
I'd like everyone in the world to realize the pressing nature of the climate change problem and take personal responsibility to stop it.
Is that too close to world peace? Are we looking for a personal wish? For myself, I'd like a personal teleportation device.
20. What place most speaks to you?
The southern end of the Appalachian mountains in north Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. I grew up in Atlanta, but it's the forests of our closest mountains that feel like home. I'm currently in puppy love with the landscapes of California from the sequoia forests of the Sierra to the rocky coasts of Big Sur to the lovely city of San Francisco, but the Appalachians will always be dearest to me.
