Hi friends!  Would your day be improved by some animal-related links?  Of course!  Luckily, I am here to help.

-First, were you aware that there was a prehistoric reptile that was able to glide with membranes not on its forelimbs like a normal flying/gliding creature but its REAR LEGS?  It's called Sharovipteryx.  You really should click on the link to see the artist's rendition, because it is ridiculous.  This species isn't newly discovered, but through a catastrophic failure of our educational and news systems, I was somehow not made aware of its existence until last night.  It lived in the Triassic period.  Screw cloning dinosaurs, I want flocks of these.

-Second, here are two kangaroos having a brawl in a suburban street:

I would have gone with a more epic soundtrack for the video, but this is still so very cool to watch.  Look at how they stand on their tails to deliver double-footed kicks!

-Third, some sad and strange news.  A woman walking her dog in New York's Central Park discovered the corpse of a black bear cub.  Nobody knows how it got there.  My reaction to this is approximately two parts "oh no! poor little bear!!!!"  and one part "how? why? this is a fascinating mystery." I suspect that some asshole chose to dispose of their ill-advised pet, because there is an awful lot of city that the bear would have had to walk through unseen in order to get their on its own, not to mention the fact that Manhattan is an island.  However, the part of my brain that refuses to admit to the rules of the real world suspects that this tragic and weirdly out of place bear may be due to magic and/or shapeshifters.  Possibly a moment was involved that went like this:

you made a bear undo it

RIP, little lost bear.

-On the subject of living animals, meet Garfi, a cat with a face that makes Grumpy Cat look positively perky.  See him furiously sitting in a box!  Look at him angrily sticking his tongue out!  This is great.

-Finally, this isn't an animal link, but there are still plenty of mystery lyrics over at my lyrics guessing meme, including at least one well-known retro pop song I suspect somebody out there can figure out.

Of course, I'm wondering "which suburb in what city?" in regard to the Kangaroos. Two alpha males having a bit of a rough-up (but not a serious fight - no blood). Agreed that the music is just WRONG. It isn't a dance, that's just mocking them.

The music on the kangaroo video made me think the kangaroos were trying to hug each other instead of punch each other. :-) Also, how weird to see two kangaroos just punching each other on the street. I mean, I get deer wandering the street at home, but they don't attack each other.

Love that exchange from Buffy. One of my favourites. Does this mean some poor soul in Manhattan disturbed a Chumash burial site?

I love that kangaroo video! The suburban setting definitely adds something, but I've also just never seen kangaroos fight before! They sure have strong tails! They always seem like made up animals to me, somehow.

The thing with the bear cub is distressing, so yay for the Buffy picspam to lighten up the mood again :)
