The icon discussion meme is going around again.
1. Reply to this post with "UNICORNS", and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
Here are the five that
iwouldbegood picked for me:

Shirtless Spike is always good to look at. ;) This kiss is only in Spike's dream, but it already shows of the chemistry that sparked between Buffy and Spike. The text is perfect, because love motivates both of them to acts of foolishness as well as great courage. In addition, the episode "Fool For Love" is my second favorite BtVS episode, second only to "Once More With Feeling." Lately I've been rewatching a lot of BtVS to keep up with the blog Mark Watches (where a guy called Mark blogs about watching various geeky things for which he is ridiculously unspoiled), and "Fool For Love" was today's episode. It was amusing to watch the Mark and the commenting newbies' reactions to suddenly having Buffy/Spike FEELINGS. While I'm a multi-shipper in BtVS, this is the ship I care about most from that show.

I think the last time this meme came up this icon was chosen. I guess it's an unusual thing to see in a fannish journal. I once spent a year working in a lab where one of my jobs was raising caterpillars for experiments on plant vs. insect interactions, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for caterpillars. Actually, I like most insects and weird creatures in general. This icon (which was originally from a medieval manuscript) is useful for talking about insects, nature, science, or slowly inching my way through life.

I pretty much am a liberal, tree-hugging (both literally and metaphorically), vegetarian hippie-freak, not to mention a staunch supporter of using Ms. as a form of address rather than Miss or Mrs. I use this icon for talking about politics, environmentalism, social justice, and vegetarianism.

Nine and Rose are such a wonderful couple. Their story is in many ways a fairytale: the shopgirl who ran away with the Oncoming Storm, made him remember how to dance, and eventually transformed herself into the Bad Wolf to save him and the universe. Yet the "sorta" works well as modifier of fairytale, because Nine and Rose weren't only about the moments of magic and love-story tropes. They made each other giggle as they hid from Rose's mom on the roof. They bickered incessantly. They geeked out about things like meeting Charles Dickens. Their love is as big as all of time and space and as small and delicate as their fingers entwining.

I work with kids. The text on this icon is accurate. ;) (Children are also a lot of positive things, like inspirational and adorable, but they can certainly be scary.) I use this one when talking about work, especially when the children have been challenging me in a bad way. Also, that scene in the Eleventh Hour was pretty creepy.
Anyone else want to play?
