Anne McCaffrey and Margaret Atwood did have one book each on the list, though since plenty of (mostly male) authors have several books on the list there's definitely an argument that they should have more representation. I haven't read the majority of Atwood's work (and not all of it is sf), but Oryx and Crake would be a great candidate for this list.

To be fair to NPR the organization, this list was voted on by their listeners/website visitors. So shame on them instead. There's definitely shame involved.
