Delightful DVDs I've watched lately

Y'all, I've seen some of the best things on dvd lately. Stuff that makes me flail my arms in the air in happiness.
On Fringe, I'm up to "Brown Betty" (2x20). Fringe S2 in general has been stellar, but this episode takes the cake for being brilliantly bonkers.
It's a noir fairy tale, and also slightly a musical! Dapper hats for everybody, not just the Watchers! There are SINGING CORPSES! I'd heard that singing corpses made an appearance on Fringe at some point, but I that didn't but the slightest dent in my delight and epic LOLing when they actually occurred, and they were singing the Candyman song from Willy Wonka! I can't stop using exclamation points, because it's all so exciting! The cow is painted bright colors! Olivia plays Operation with Peter's chest! Also, is it just me or are Astrid and Olivia totally flirting? I choose to believe that they are, so there. It's like a truly brilliant crack fic, and it's actually onscreen. THE HATS ARE SO AWESOME THAT THEY DESERVE ANOTHER MENTION.
Tonight I watched The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. I've been meaning to watch it for quite some time, and except for a few issues it did not disappoint. Getting the disappointment out of the way, I thought the ending was a let down. Other than that, it was like they made this film just for me (Mark Gatiss also loves it deeply, so I'm in good company). So much fan candy, y'all! There is ho yay and an investigation involving the Loch Ness monster. Those things alone would please me, but there's so much more. Holmes actually comes out! Admittedly this is to fend off an amorous Russian ballerina, and he does later develop affection for a woman and mention other women in his life, but he still pings my gaydar in a major way. Bi? Gay but in denial? I wish they'd gone a little farther, but basically, as BBC!John says, it's all fine. Other exciting features of this film: Direct mention of Watson's experience with women on three continents. Watson catching amorous eyes from Russian ballerinas of both sexes. Christopher Lee (!) as conniving Mycroft in control of most of the British government. Midgets. Steampunk submarine. Snarky Holmes. Mrs. Hudson brandishing a gun. Russian ballerina attempting to pay Holmes for sex, but paying with a Stradivarius violin instead of anything so crude as cash. Watson in a kilt. General awesomeness.
I should probably stop flailing on my keyboard. It's way past bedtime. But y'all, watch Fringe and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. Now.
