It's only a bad habit if one uses it as an excuse to not get on with writing the rest of the scene. Don't let other people tell you not to do what works for you!
Thanks for the encouragement! Yep, I'm well aware that writing does not have a one-size-fits-all process. That's part of why I'm enjoying seeing people's answers to this meme. For me, editing as I go usually results in better product and less stress. I just need to occasionally remind myself that it's OK to leave something temporarily alone, even if I'm not yet satisfied, in situations where I could be more productive if I went on to the next part.
Are you ever going to write more of that? It's my favouritest series by you. (makes puppy-dog eyes)
Aww, thanks. I do still have some stories in mind, but I don't want to make promises. The next big story to move the arc along got really stuck, and when I moved on to other projects in hopes of unsticking it I never really moved back. Plot bunnies relating to more recently aired stuff keep feeling more urgent. I am aware (and really flattered!!!) that lots of people love this series and want more.
Yes! Me too! Or in another "notes" file, or something similar.
:) Keeping the cut or altered passages in a notes section/file is so useful. I've moved into doing it more regularly than I used to, and I really like it.
