I'm actually starting to *gasp* like River, which is amazing to me.
Yes, it's confusing to find myself liking her, but as of this episode I do.
I'm still not sold on Matt Smith's Doctor, sadly. He doesn't carry the gravitas that Tennant or Eccelston could've done with his lines. There are moments where I think yeah, okay, maybe he is the Doctor, but they're few and far between.
For me, he works well as the Doctor most of the time, but falls short at a few crucial moments. He does the adorkable alien aspect of the Doctor beautifully, and I love the strange gangly grace of how he moves. However, when he needs to be all Oncoming Storm, sometimes it just comes across as shouty or trying too hard. Ah well. I think Tennant improved as he went along. Maybe Smith will too, though he has farther to go.
