Dollhouse is causing great tension, both in the onscreen and offscreen worlds.  I am starting to get emotionally involved in this show, and now there are the signs of trouble from the network that fans have been prophesying since the beginning.  Apparently Fox isn't planning on airing the last episode of this season.  Let the fandom explosion commence!  But wait...I don't feel like typing out the background story, but apparently Fox is fulfililng their obligations, and this episode is "extra." The network is only being mildly wanker-like rather than heinously evil.  So the decision not to air this episode isn't necessarily a death bell for the series...but it's not exactly promising either.

Enough about that.  Let me squee about episodes for a bit!

I didn't see last week's ep, "Needs," until this week, so I have to take a moment to state my fondness for Victor/Sierra.   Victor's protectiveness is adorable, as is his recitation of the baseball team lineup in the shower.  Also, I laughed my head off at this:

random doll:  I like pancakes.
Victor:  We're all gonna die.

On to this week, "A Spy in the House of Love."  This episode rocked.

First, Mellie and Paul oh no!  Ever since we found out that Mellie was actually a doll, we knew that Paul would find out sooner or later.  However, it broke me a bit to have Mellie herself switching to November and delivering the message and then forbidding Paul to show any sign that he knew.  This is awful and rather creepy...he goes on making out with her, but he knows now that whoever November once was never consented to this.  ICK.  But what else can he do? He needs to keep up a facade to keep from being discovered by the Dollhouse, putting both of them in danger.  Furthermore, Mellie, believing herself to be real and rather in love with Paul, would really have her heart broken (at least until the next wipe) if he rejected her.  Paul has lost his confidante and gained someone around whom he needs to but up an extra-strong facade.  (Also, he'll now need a stealthier form of information storage than the wall o' pictures and string.)  Oh, Joss, you stomper on hearts, how I love and loathe you concurrently!

Laurence Dominic is a spy in the dollhouse?  Whoa!  That was unexpected.  I'm kinda sad he was uncovered and attic'ed, though.  I enjoyed watching that bastard.  His scene in the van with Echo was rather awesome.  However, I'm suspicious that there may be another unknown mole working to undermine the dollhouse.  The messages to Ballard don't appear to fit Dominic's stated agenda.   Not sure about this theory, though.

Adelle is Victor's Miss Lonelyhearts?  Another big whoa!  I suppose it makes sense that she uses her own technology to create the only person with whom she can partially take off her ice bitch armor.  Even for couples I don't ship, I love a good sexually charged fencing scene.  Of course Victor manages to accidentally hit on just the things to say to guilt trip Adelle.  She's an interesting character.  Being as involved in exploiting people as she is, she's certainly not one of the good guys, but that doesn't stop her from being complex, kickass, and occasionally sympathetic.

Sierra's spy mission was stupid.  How did she know exactly what clothes that NSA employee she impersonated would be wearing? (And why did it matter when she replaced the woman before arriving at the NSA building?)  What was she doing in those outlandishly impractical shoes?  Does she only have shoes suitable for hooker missions?

They're separating Boyd from Echo?!  Nooo!  Echo looked none too happy about it when in the chair, supposedly imprinting on her new handler.  I actively do NOT ship these two, but I like how the forced bond of the imprint has grown into something stronger, certainly from Boyd and arguably from Echo too.  Boyd's loyalty is to Echo first and the dollhouse second, and sooner or later that's going to affect his job performance as head of security.

Topher will really need to visit the drawer of inappropriate starches after the hard day he's had.  :)  Interesting that he warned Boyd when he thought Boyd might be the mole.  Topher is amusing, but truly amoral, and this is the first thing he's done for someone else that I can recall.  Unless, of course, Topher is the undiscovered mole and was merely attempting to flush out the competition.

Echo asking to help with the investigation and volunteering to be imprinted shows an impressive awareness of herself and the subtler aspects of what's going on around her.

I'm sad that we have to wait two weeks for more episodes, though I'm mostly just hoping that this series (a) stays good and (b) stays on the air.
