Dollhouse field trip to Washington: win!!!
OMGWTFDOLLHOUSESQUEEEEEE! How is Fox canceling this show? Have they watched the episodes that aired tonight? If they had watched it then there is no way in hell they could cancel, ratings be damned. Still, their tactic to clear Dollhouse out of the way faster does mean sweet two-hour blocks of Dollhouse, which I kinda love.
First, MY LOVE FOR VICTOR AS TOPHER REQUIRES CAPSLOCK AND A WHOLE LOT OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!! Enver deserves to take over Hollywood when no longer employed by Dollhouse. Even when I was laughing too hard to actually hear the dialog (a lot of the time), I could see that his body language and expressions were so very Topher. Topher's conversations with himself were great. I only wish I could have seen Adelle's face when they decided on that part of the plan. I also wish Sierra had been around, but there was rather a lot going on even without her.
SENATORWESLEY PERRIN IS A DOLL! Whoa! I've been avoiding spoilers and discussion, so that came as a total surprise to me. The idea of a doll who is imprinted as a slightly different version of him/herself is clever and really creepy. Although in this case he seems to be a "better" version of himself, with that sort of technology a person would never know what was real and what was imprinted. I fell over laughing when they described Perrin as an ambitionless, drunken frat-type who attended Yale and then turned around and suddenly became successful at politics. Dubya was an active? Man, Rossum is far more evil than we imagined!
Perrin, however, is far more likable than the ex-pres. Despite a slightly rushed feeling, I thought his storyline as he realized he was a doll and went on the run was excellent. Plus, bonus points for managing to make cutting a chip out from under someone's skin hot with gratuitous stripping!
There was a lot of Echo in these episodes, yet I liked them anyway. Eliza Dushku may be improving.
Lookup "badass" in a dictionary and you will find a picture of Adelle DeWitt. There's a woman who's got balls. ;)
I'm still not 100% sold on Summer Glau's character (Bennett), but I am waiting for some more information before making up my mind. The scene where she was torturing Echo made her seem pretty purely evil, when one of the things I like about Dollhouse is that everyone is a shade of gray. She also seemed quite crazy, more than can be accounted for by being abandoned by Caroline. How did someone quite so sadistic end up friends with Caroline in the first place?
Madeline (/November) was pretty awesome. That woman has poise and gumption. Her decision to confront Paul, the man who she knew had used her while she was a doll, was courageous. Best of all I loved how she called Paul out on his attempt to be the white knight and forced him to see that his attempts to protect her were just another form of taking her control away. Paul has needed to hear that for too long. I was furious when the Dollhouse programmed Perrin to say that she was insane. Joss better not give her a tragic ending! Well, not an ending significantly more tragic than what we all know is coming for the world from Epitaph One.
In conclusion, Enver Gjokaj for the EPIC WIN!
