tardis_stowaway: TARDIS under a starry sky and dark tree (donna)

Donna Noble does not sleep. She waits.

Hoping to get through the last bit of S4 and the specials before Waters of Mars, I rewatched Turn Left tonight. I have a few things to say about it:

-Donna Noble is awesome!

-Rose is enigmatic, powerful, and overall doing a pretty decent job of being the Doctor, considering. However, her voice still sounds weird in this episode.

-The moment when Donna passes on Rose's message and the Doctor runs outside to see "Bad Wolf" written everywhere has to rank among the coolest moments in Doctor Who, IMHO.

-When Rose was discussing the destruction of the Sontaran ship with Donna, she says that Gwen and Ianto have given their lives and Jack has been transported to the Sontaran world. This suggests that she might already be aware of Jack's immortality. Yet in JE we see her scared and confused when Jack is shot, as if she thought him mortal. My impression of the canonical timeline was that Rose began in Pete's world, spent some time going in and out of the Turn Left world while attempting to reach the Doctor, and eventually made it back to the normal universe in brief flashes at Partners in Crime and permanently for Stolen Earth. Now I'm wondering if that's not the case. Was the Rose in Turn Left erased when Donna reset that universe? Or does Turn Left take place after JE in Rose's personal timeline? I've seen a fic or two where the latter scenario happened as Rose tried to get back to Ten either after the death of TenII or other reasons why she needed to cross dimensions. Maybe that makes sense.

-The downward spiral of the world without the Doctor is terrifically chilling. The last four episodes of S4 (Midnight, TL, TSE, JE) are all magnificently dark.

-Once more, Donna Noble is really, truly, astoundingly AWESOME!!!

Yeah- Rose in Turn Left was very powerful, strong, and Doctor-y. And the thing at the end with the Bad Wolf everywhere was an amazing moment... so yeah, the Rose that appears in TSE/JE wasn't quite what I was expecting. I was thinking of a more Bad Wolf-y Rose, one who knew a lot more.

But either that Rose being erased from the timeline, or the possibility that this is Rose from a post-JE timeline makes sense (and with the second, they leave open the possibility of bringing her back, if wanted/needed).

Yeah, TSE/JE Rose was just a bit of a disappointment after what we saw in Turn Left. It wasn't that she was lame, because she certainly wasn't, but she didn't show many signs of having grown and changed since Doomsday other than learning to wield a really large gun. Certainly her characterization wasn't quite consisted with what we saw in TL. I wanted more of the Bad Wolfish Rose who helped UNIT build a freakin' time machine and seemed almost superhuman in her understanding of timelines.

I am all in favor of openings for canon to bring Rose back if needed!

If you have ten hats and Donna Noble has ten hats, Donna Noble has more hats than you!

Donna Noble knows the question to Life, the Universe and Everything.

Donna Noble doesn't use the Dewey Decimal System. Dewey uses the Donna Decimal System.

Donna Noble can stop the Oncoming Storm.

Donna Noble has something on her will be back.

... er, you know, in lieu of anything useful to say.

LOL! These are brilliant. I especially like the hats.

Star Trek: TOS was not being discriminatory when they worded their mission "to boldy go where no man has gone before." They couldn't go where no woman has gone before because Donnna Noble has been everywhere.

Donna Noble can divide by zero.

The sound of drums drove the Master mad because it sounded like Donna Noble's approaching footsteps.

The other time-eating beetles kept looking at the one from Turn Left in fear and awe, exclaiming "You have something on your front!"

Here's an idea.
How do we know that Turn Left Rose, wasn't really Bad Wolf Rose.
Thus TSE/JE Rose is not acting weirdly at all.
