random hope

Last night, while attempting to fall asleep, I had a happy thought.  The crew in The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit mentions that they represent the "Torchwood Archive."  This means that Torchwood survives in some form far into the future and does not end with CoE.  Now, it could have been rebuilt from records long after CoE, or it could be that the Torchwood Archive is descended from the enigmatic Glasgow Torchwood 2 or the missing Torchwood 4.  However, the likeliest explanation in my view is that Gwen and whoever she recruits will rebuild Torchwood as an organization, even if Jack and the hub are gone.  This rebuilding is widely assumed in fic, of course, but it makes me happy to have canonical support for the idea.  Torchwood is dead.  Long live Torchwood!

Meanwhile, tonight I made risotto with corn, tomatoes, zucchini, red pepper, and basil, all from local farmers' markets, and local white wine.  Mmmm.

Except that nothing's fixed in the Whoniverse. We knew of the Torchwood Archive from Bad Wolf in S1 - but we also knew of Harriet Jones' three-term government from World War III, and you know what happened to that :)

But rumour has it that there is going to be a TW S4.

Curse your logic! It makes far too much sense. ;) I like to live in a happy place where Harriet Jones dropped through a trapdoor and lived through JE. Now that the current government is about to be tossed out, she can come back in to serve those three terms properly!

Ooh, thanks for the rumor.

Gwen totally rebuilds. (I recently rewatched that episode for the first time, and became equally gleeful over that line.)
