Drawer of Inappropriate Starches

Dollhouse tonight continued last week's trend of actually being good, if perhaps not quite as good as last week.

-The plot where all the non-Active characters on the Dollhouse staff (inactives?) got drugged and started acting crazy was right on the edge of being over the top, but didn't quite cross over.  Some of the actors playing very serious characters got to display their pretty fabulous comedic talents.  Lots of love for Adelle on the trampoline and the conversation where we first realize that Topher and Adelle are drugged.  I particularly enjoyed Laurence Dominic, the security guy who earlier tried to kill Echo in the cult fire, getting  annoyed at the  dolls' characters ignoring his authority and then, while drugged, apologizing endlessly, getting tired of holding his heavy gun, and falling in love with his suit.

-So in her past life, Echo/Caroline was a....radical animal rights activist?  Ooookay.  I don't know why, but I'm not sure this works for me.  I hope we eventually get more backstory in between the first foray into the Rossum headquarters and her becoming a doll.

-Secret Agent!Victor was badass, and I loved his banter with CDC!Sierra.  More of these two, please!

-I continue to like Boyd, especially his reaction when Echo doesn't give the programmed response to his question.  His interaction with the girl who saw mansions in his eyes was also cute.

-The security was ridiculously lax on the treatment center for drugged people that Echo and Sam just waltzed right out of.  Also, the top-secret expensive lab that can be accessed through unlocked, unalarmed grate is sort of stupid.

-Topher:  "Your brain rocks."
*he offers Mellie a high five, which she returns in a very spacey way*
Me:  LOL!

I felt much the same- we all giggled quite a lot through the episode, but we also kept on going "what?" They weren't very clear on a lot of things, and the episode didn't flow anywhere near as smoothly as last week's. Although I believe it was co-written by two people, neither of whom were Joss.

Yeah. This was one of those episodes where they threw a lot of stuff--some very good and some not--into a blender to see what would come out. I wondered if it had run long and they'd had to cut out some explanations, because it definitely needed a bit more logic. Still, 'twas enjoyable. I suppose Joss can't write every episode.

The "have you not seen my drawer of inappropriate starches?" line was DEFINITELY worth the price of admission.

It's a shame I find Topher so thoroughly irritating, because he does get a lot of good lines. That one was definitely a standout!
