Holmes and Watson (Mrs. Watson, that is)

Sherlock is filming.  I dislike spoilers, so I've thus far avoided looking at the setlock photos and speculation.  However, I did end up clicking on an article on The Mary Sue that shows two of the costumes.  I have some thoughts about the costumes themselves (no information or speculation on the plot.)

LOOK AT MARY'S BOOTS!  I have a might craving for those gorgeous boots.  Really I covet her whole look (including her face and her choice of walking companion).  That jacket!  The waistcoat!  The jaunty hat!  The trousers, as if she's dressed to go riding or to be a wild and stylish velocipedestrienne! Well played, wardrobe department.  The boots are definitely the best though.  I would wear the hell out of those.

Uh, I guess Sherlock is actually wearing an inverness cape.  That's cool.  But right now I am all about my girl Mary and her outstanding ensemble.

For anyone commenting, I'm really not looking for further spoilers or to go down the rabbit hole of intense speculation .  This is an entirely shallow clothing appreciation post.  (Light pondering and analysis of the outfits are okay.)

I was looking at Setlock pictures (and learned the thing was called Setlock) from the first day of shooting, but I hadn't seen any photos of Mary yet, so this is awesome. I was worried that she wasn't in the special.

And, my god, those are magnificant boots. Love the jaunty hat, too. I can see why ladies do steampunk: the glorious footwear.

Clearly, Victorian!Mary is also a bad ass assassin and she's dressed to kill. :-)

Oh man, I would have thrown a fit if Mary had been left out of the special. Not that my fit would have made any difference whatsoever, but it would have been the principle of the thing.

Steampunk fashion is often phenomenally good-looking, IMHO. I wish I had more occasions to wear it (and more money to buy it!)

Ha, indeed! Figuratively and literally, because you could hide a lot of weapons in that outfit.

Wow, that's awesome! I want her outfit!

I haven't been following news on the special at all, so do we know if this is a fancy dress party or is it actually a Victorian AU? Feel free to not answer if it's spoilery.

Glad you agree about the outfit.

I have no idea. I don't think anybody knows at this point, but I have been actively avoiding discussions in order to remain as unspoiled as possible.

I love both of their hats :D
