I went to see Jurassic Park in 3D. I really enjoyed seeing this movie, which I hadn't seen in years, on the big screen again. I would rather have just had a 2D rerelease, but the 3D was done well enough not to be annoying (aside from the ticket price and having to wear uncomfortable plastic glasses over my real glasses, of course). Getting to see everything huge and with a big sound system was the draw, and it was totally worth it. The dinosaur effects have held up surprisingly well (although we now know that some of those species should have had feathers), and it's still a well told action story (even if some of the dialog is a little hokey). I love that in addition to the fear, the movie also conveys a strong sense of wonder at the dinosaurs. The score is a big part of that. As an adult, I have an enhanced appreciation for all the shots of Jeff Goldblum with a gratuitously open shirt.

I saw Jurassic Park when it was first released in theaters. I was nine, young enough that my parents didn't normally let me see PG-13 movies, but my love of dinosaurs made me beg to see this one. I may even have already read the book. After first going themselves to check it out, my parents decided to let me go. It was definitely scary for kid-me, but also tremendously fun and thrilling.

I recall the movie terrifying little pre-adolescent me when I saw it. The book did the same thing when I had read it earlier, though in hindsight, part of me questions my dad's decision to give me a novel which contains descriptions of Nedry getting disemboweled and the like. I'm not actually sure Jurassic Park (the book) is appropriate reading for 9-year-olds...

That said, *yes yes yes* about the sense of wonder in the movie. There are parts of it that still just make me grin from ear to ear in pure happiness.

Also, I totally had no idea that this had been put into 3-D! I may actually have to try to see it. I am incredibly ignorant of movie goings-on, in general.

Yeah, Nedry getting disemboweled is definitely one of the scenes that vividly burned itself onto my young mind. It's pretty intense. I'm not sure I would offer the book to a nine year-old, but both of us appear to have survived with our minds more or less intact.

Even with all the terrible stuff that happened in the movie, I think if cloning dinosaurs was actually possible, I would still be in favor of it. I think I would take a chance of being devoured as a price for the chance to see real live dinosaurs.

I plan on seeing it. I was five when it came out, though I guess the rating didn't matter because I remember the day my parents took me to see it. We dressed up and went to breakfast at a cafeteria first. It's one of the only memories of family outings with my dad before he died. So seeing it will be sort of reliving that. :)

That is a touching memory, even if I do feel like five is way too young for that movie. You seem to have survived without developing paralyzing phobia of dinosaurs, so I guess it's no big deal for some kids. ;)

I don't think Jurassic Park is too scary. Aside from the chopped off arm. Man, that's freaky. I can't handle scary/ghost/horror movies, though, and can't even handle the Jurassic Park type rides where the dinosaur will jump out at your face in the dark.

OMG, it's the most majestic piece of music I've ever heard!

It's been so many years since I last watched this movie, and I usually skip 3D, but I think it'll totally be worth it just to see it. Can't wait!

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of 3D, but just seeing this movie on a big screen again was totally worthwhile. Have fun!
