Midnight in the garden of creepy and evil

Note to self:  watching Midnight just before bed is a Very Bad Idea.  Even when it's a rewatch and the outcome is known, that is still a seriously terrifying episode.  I was struck by the highly effective use of music and sound to build the dread.  The part where the entity is moving around and knocking* on the outside of the shuttle creeps me the hell out, but the portrait of ordinary people teetering on the edge of becoming monsters is scarier yet.  The unresolved ending (what WAS that thing?  is it still out there?  will it stay out there and only out there?) is the perfect icing on the scarycake.  These are not new observations, but I felt the need to point them out.  I am going to sleep now, hoping that my dreams can remain uninfluenced by my poor choice of bedtime viewing.

*Speaking of knocking, I want it to be time for more Doctor Who already!  *taps foot impatiently four times*

Midnight is one of my fave eps. Brilliant performances all round but especially from David, Lesley Sharpe and Colin Morgan. Its a really upsetting episode and you just feel so awful for the Doctor - I love the fact that he hugs Donna back at the end, just shows how much he's been affected by what happened to him. I like the fact we find out so little about the monster, makes it all the more scary that we are never told what it is - even if I do have my own ideas! It would be great for there to be a follow up one day!

I know what you mean - I'm starting to get seriously impatient for more Who - We've got the Doctor in SJA in just two weeks though so we're getting there! :)

Yes, Midnight is a stunning episode. I totally agree about the acting! It's a bit too uncomfortable a watch for me to call it a favorite, but that disturbing aspect was the goal, and the quality is top notch. Poor Doctor does get whumped quite hard in this one...then practically before you know it you've got JE. RTD must really like Tennant's upset face.

I haven't watched much SJA, but I may have to track Tennant's episodes down.
