Icon glee meme

That icon meme is going around again.

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.

2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.

3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.

4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee!

[livejournal.com profile] kaydeefalls  picked some of my icons for me to babble about.

It really is a damn shame that Paul McGann only got the cheesetacular TV movie to be the Doctor onscreen, because he is marvelous in both acting and prettiness.  This icon, by the talented and cool[livejournal.com profile] isiscaughey , shows off the pretty nicely.  I like the crop.  It seems tragic that Eight, a fairly gentle and joyous incarnation of the Doctor, was the one who had to fight the Time War.   "Storm coming"  foreshadows this.  Even while getting ridiculously excited about new shoes that fit, the Doctor is the Oncoming Storm, capable of destroying the Daleks and his own world.  I use this icon to talk about Eight (or sometimes other pre-Eccleston Doctors for whom I don't have icons), bad weather, and coming changes.

After Matt Smith was announced as the Eleventh Doctor, I posted a poll in my livejournal asking how Smith would portray the Doctor with various silly options.  [livejournal.com profile] caboca  replied with a very funny scene from a hypothetical audition of actors trying out for the part of the Doctor using the poll options.  The winning actor combined the disparate options "two words:  sparkly vampire," "sane. That would be a change," and "action transvestite."  (Eddie Izzard FTW!)  Wouldn't it be TOTALLY FRICKIN' AMAZING if Eleven actually turned out like this?  [profile] diciple_of_time  was generous enough to make this icon.  Yes, that is Matt Smith in drag.  I smile every time I see this icon.  It's useful for discussing the coming regeneration or general goofiness.

"Cake or death?" is another Eddie Izzard quote. I adore him so much, especially the Dress to Kill show, from whence this joke came.  This icon, made by [livejournal.com profile] erikssiren , shows a particularly luscious piece of cake.  It makes me want to dig a fork into my monitor.  It's useful for presenting people I like with virtual cake (or virtual death), Eddie Izzard references, and choices.

I absolutely love The Shakespeare Code.  It's so full literary geek love!  Martha's reactions to her first trip back in time are quite fun.  She's gleeful and clever.  (It's sort of sad to see the contrast with the solider-type she became after what she had to endure toward the end of S3 and joining UNIT.) I like the goofiness of Martha's expresion and hairstyle in this icon. I use this icon in discussing Martha or the Shakespeare Code, or when I want to agree with someone.  "Forsooth" is a great word, and I think it should be more commonly used.  [livejournal.com profile] leelakin  made the icon.

Here's another beauty by [livejournal.com profile] isiscaughey .  The colors on this picture are just stunning, and I really like the composition.  The text comes from a fantastic poem by e. e. cummings.  This line is perfect for the Doctor and Rose, expressing both their literal travels and the strange new country of love they find themselves entering.  They've each loved others before in some way, but this intense bond between the last of the Time Lords and the young girl who became the Bad Wolf is something entirely new.  It's uncharted territory of the heart(s), and they are mapping it together.  I like this icon for Ten/Rose, but I also use it for poetry or my personal travels and new experiences.

Right, that's some of my icons.  Reply if you want me to select some fo yours!
