F - What’s the longest you've ever been in a fandom?
The answer to this varies depending on what one considers being in a fandom. The longest I've been in a fandom in terms of continuously paying attention to the canon, participating in online discussion, and creating/consuming fanworks is certainly Doctor Who. I got passionate about the show when I first saw it in 2005 and joined online fandom in 2007.
But before that, there are other fandoms that I haven't been as continuously or fully involved in, but started earlier and have never really stopped loving: -The first fic I wrote was for Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 2002. -I first discovered reading fanfic for the X-Files during the late 90s. -The first time I participated in online discussion of a fandom was for Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar novels back in the mid (?) 90's on AOL. -The first time I cosplayed was when my mom made me a Star Trek: TNG uniform for Halloween when I was in fourth grade. -I've loved the Lord of the Rings since my dad read it aloud to me when I was around six.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Oh man, this is tough! The first two that spring to mind are the Ninth Doctor and Parker from Leverage. There so much emotional power in Nine's journey from being closed-off and consumed by grief and regret to being full of love and a little closer to at peace. I'm still blown away by the moment in The Doctor Dances when my normally sad and cynical Doctor's face lights up as he shouts "Just this once, everybody lives!" Every bit of that transformative joy felt earned. And then there's Parker, who got five seasons to learn to grow close to other people and become more in touch with her emotions without ever losing her weirdness. She went from a childlike loner to being the leader of a team. I just adore her arc so much.
