Happy Birthday to our pal Will

Today is William Shakespeare's 450th birthday!  (Well, the day we observe as his birthday.  Nobody is 100% sure of his exact birth date.)  In honor of him and of it still being National Poetry Month, have a sonnet!  This is one of my favorites.

Sonnet 130:  My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
   And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
   As any she belied with false compare.

Also, apparently the Globe is taking Hamlet on tour to literally every country in the world.  I think that's a super cool project, and the production sounds really neat.

Now, because you deserve it, the latest kitten picture:

Ha, yes, I love that sketch with Catherine Tate!

Seeing Benedict as Hamlet would be SO AMAZING! I hope you succeed at getting tickets. :)

I was so heartbroken when my plans for this year's New Year's trip to London fell through. I planned to take part in Doctor Who walking tour, and there was a slight chance I may have gotten a ticket for David Tennant's Richard II. On the other hand, all the Sherlock walking tours were already sold out, and a Doctor Who bus tour to Cardiff isn't taking place in winter. So my best friend and I decided to go to London next summer even if we don't get tickets for Hamlet. We want to do all three tours :D
