*now uses the one icon I've been avoiding using at the top level on my LJ for you ;)*
Donna's ending is really the reason I felt the need to write fixit fic. There were other ways she could've left, but this just sends her along the same route as Jamie and Zoe from the Second Doctor's reign (the Time Lords wiped their memories of the Doctor and everything they did with him and then they forcefully regenerated Two and stranded him on Earth...hmmm...more parallels).
Like you, there were parts of this finale that I loved. Unexpected!Doctor/Rose snog (yays! Because, to me, 10.5 = the Doctor, despite that little quirk of biology. And OMG my ship is canon). There's a bit of canon (spoken of in the DWMs and elsewhere) where 10.5 is given a piece of the TARDIS so he can grow his very own. I've now adopted this as fact :-D Because while the Doctor's been stuck on the slow path before (as Three), he spent most of his time trying to get off Earth again. So in my head, it'll take a few years to grow a TARDIS for them, then they'll be off in time and space like before...only less recklessness where possible the first time the Doctor gets hurt. (Throw in references to Honorh's Seed Pearls and you've got my idea for how the future's going to turn out ;))
But why, oh why, do they always feel it necessary to inflict so much angst on the poor Doctor? Can't he have one happy ending, where he knows he can pop in and visit his friends whenever he wants? Whatever happened to having the biggest family possible reference SJS gave? *sighs* I guess that's what fic is for.
I do wish Rose had more to do in this last episode, too. Besides carry around a big gun. Ah well.
